of the International theatre festival
"SIB-ALTERA"

APPLICATION FORM FOR PARTICIPANTS OF THE FESTIVAL
"Sib-Altera", the International theatre festival, was created in Novosibirsk in 2000. "Sib-Altera" can be translated from Latin as "Other Siberia". The motto of the festival is "art without borders". Mission of the festival is assistance to new theatrical art in its promotion in the world, especially to the geographically distant areas of Russia where cultural inquiries of the population are high, but the opportunity of seeing really new art is less than for the Europeans or people from the central Russia.
The festival is held once a year, in the period between the festivals "Sib-Altera" operates as a producer centre, keeping a common creative policy. The "format" of "Sib-Altera" includes theatres and separate theatrical and dramaturgic projects which have already attracted attention of spectators and critics by novelty and non-standard theatrical language, created on a joint of various kinds of the arts, using unusual and untheatrical spaces. It can be both visual - plastic and verbal theatres, as well as theatres of modern dance and groups showing performances.
In different time "Sib-Altera" has opened for Siberia solo performances by Eugeny Grishkovetz (Kaliningrad), "Derevo" theater from Dresden, "CheloVek (a Man)" from Chelyabinsk, "BlackSKYwhite" and "Theatre.Doc" from Moscow etc. Theatres from Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Germany, Estonia, Switzerland, Byelorussia and many cities of Russia took part in the festival. "Sib-Altera" is the first and the only one festival behind the Urals of such a direction and scale.
Besides the festival activities "Sib-Altera" organizes:
· inter-regional and international laboratories of playwrights;
· seminars on art-management.
There is an electronic library of new plays on the website of the festival (mostly in Russian).
In 2004 the festival was supported by the Arts and Culture Board under the President of the Russian Federation (within the framework of the Action of support of the Russian theatrical initiatives.
V International theatre festival "Sib-Altera" is to take place in Novosibirsk in November, 2006.
